Three killed, 2 injured in Surat road accident

Three people were killed and two injured after a speeding car hit them at Pandesara while they were crossing the main road. The injured had been admitted to New Civil hospital where the condition of one of the persons is reported to be critical.

Six persons, all residents of Avirbhav society in Pandesara, were returning home after attending a marriage function of their relative, Gnaneshwar Patil at Chikuwadi area in Pandesara, on Wednesday night.

While crossing the main road at a junction, a speeding car hit them. The driver tried to flee, but the car had some problem and stopped a few metres away.

The pedestrians immediately reached the spot while some of them caught the car driver and informed police. Three women died on the spot while three others sustained severe injuries and they were immediately rushed to New Civil hospital for treatment. Sources said that those killed were identified as Shobha Patil (43), Kamla Patel (53) and Mangla Patil (50), while Manju Patil, Pramod Kotar were severely injured and are undergoing treatment.

Their condition is reported to be critical. Pandesara police arrested the accused driver Sajjan Mahajan, a resident of Pandesara, for rash driving and have started probe.
