Temperatures in Saurashtra, Kutch likely to hover between 40-45 degree Celsius as heat wave continues

WITH heat wave conditions prevailing in Gujarat, temperatures in Saurashtra and Kutch are likely to hover between 40 and 45 degree Celsius on Wednesday and Thursday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned.
At 44.9 degree Celsius, Rajkot in Saurashtra recorded the highest temperature in the state on Tuesday. Other centres with high temperatures were Ahmedabad at 44.8 degree Celsius, Amreli 44.5, Kandla Airport 44.3, Gandhinagar 44, Surendranagar 43.9, Vadodara 42.4, Keshod 42, Bhuj 41.8, and Deesa 41.6 degree Celsius.
According to the weather department forecast, an orange alert with “severe heat wave conditions” are “very likely” to prevail in Rajkot till Wednesday morning along with “heat wave conditions” in Surendranagar, Morbi, Botad and Kutch.
Heat wave conditions are likely to continue in Rajkot, Surendranagar, Morbi and Kutch till Thursday, the forecast added.
Further, no substantial change in maximum temperature is expected till Friday, after which a fall by 2-4 degrees is expected in the state, the weather department stated.
Also, along with the heat wave, “discomfort conditions” due to hot and humid air are “very likely” to prevail over the coastal areas of South Gujarat region and Saurashtra-Kutch till May 1, Thursday.
