Std 12 General result dips by over 8%

The overall pass percentage of Class XII general stream students of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board declined to 68.44 from 77.04 recorded last year.

The overall pass percentage of Class XII general stream students of the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) declined to 68.44 from 77.04 recorded last year. Among this,the pass rate of girls was 77.55 per cent while that of boys was 62 per cent.

The results declared on Thursday showed the school-wise results have also declined this year,with the number of schools with 100 per cent results coming down to 199 from 235 in 2011.

The number of students securing A1 grade declined from 221 to 107. Similarly,the number of students with A2 grade is less by almost 4,000 this year.

The major difference noted in the results when compared to the previous year was the number of students who “need improvement” in one subject. As many as 80,142 students have got ‘D’ grade this year,which is 32,935 more than the previous year.

The comparative results of girls and boys was also low this year. In 2011,the overall pass percentage of girls was 86.90. It declined to 77.55 per cent this year. Similarly,from 75.72 per cent,the overall results of boys slipped to 62 per cent.

Meanwhile,the number of unfair means cases (UMCs),like copying,has dropped to 39 as against 49 cases reported the previous year.

The Board announced that marksheets will be handed over to the students on May 29 while the last date of filing applications for re-evaluation is June 11.
