The Gujarat Police has declared an alert in the state after the firing incident at Jama Masjid in Delhi on Sunday as well as ahead of the verdict on the Ayodhya issue expected on September 24.
ADGP (Law and Order) Sudhir Sinha said,We have declared an alert in the state. The policemen across the state have been asked to take necessary steps. The police would conduct checking and monitor all spots. Quick Response Teams too have been alerted. Check points have been formed across the state,especially in Ahmedabad City.
The Border Wing Police has been asked to keep a close watch to ensure no mischievous elements enter the state.
Security has been beefed up at the religious places in the state Dwarka,Somnath,Ambaji and others.
Railway stations and depots of Gujarat State Road Transport Services across the State are under surveillance.
The city and district police have been asked to step up patrolling and check vehicles,hotels and guesthouses and put nakabandi points in sensitive zones.
DGP S S Khandwawala said,We are taking all precautions and care in advance ahead of the Ayodhya verdict. The entire police force across the state has been alerted. The state police along with the SRPF,RAF,Home Guards and Coastal Police are on their toes.
Security has also been beefed up for the Ganesh Visarjan on September 22.
