State 9th in neo-natal mortality chart

Among 20 major states in the country,Gujarat has been ranked ninth on the neo-natal mortality chart. Out of every 1000 live births in 2010,the state recorded 31 infant deaths,where new-borns failed to survive before completing four weeks. While Gujarat’s neo-natal mortality rate is better than the national average of 33,the state has identical neo-natal mortality rates as Bihar and Himachal Pradesh,as per the Sample Registration System (SRS) 2010,which was tabled in Parliament by Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday,
