In a joint raid along with the local police,the district health officials arrested six quacks practising in the slums in Vapi town on Wednesday.
Sources said following complaints by residents in the area,the health department kicked off a drive with the help of Vapi police. The raids were conducted in Dungra,Geetanagar,Sulpada,Chhiri.
The health team comprised Rupesh Gohil,Santosh Yadav,Mahendra Shinde and Anjna Patel.
The officials found that none of the quacks had degree certificates or necessary documents. The patients were primarily family members of those working in different industrial units in Vapi GIDC.
The arrested quacks were identified as Vikkukumar Katka,Jayprakash Rai,Ganpat Raju,Chetan Brijlal,Sanjay Vijay Bijdal and Ajay Choudhary.
Rupesh Gohil of district health Department,Vapi,said: We get complaints regarding quacks practising in the slum areas. These bogus doctors open their dispensaries thinking that nobody will catch them or check their professional degrees. All the arrested quacks belong to other states. We will continue with our drive and hope to net a few more quacks in the area.
