The verification of over 10.69 lakh discrepancies in the Absent, Shifted and Dead (ASD) voter list under Gujarat’s Special Intensive Revision is almost complete, with 18 districts reporting no discrepancies.

All 33 districts have finished enumeration, with 18 districts reporting no discrepancies in the ASD list.Verification of 10.69 lakh ASD voter discrepancies under Gujarat’s Special Intensive Revision is nearing completion, officials said.

The verification of 10.69 lakh discrepancies in the ASD (Absent, Shifted and Dead) list is nearing completion in the state’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Chief Electoral Officer said in a statement on Sunday.

A total of 5.08 crore counting forms were distributed in the entire exercise.

Out of 33 districts in the state, 18 districts have no discrepancy in the ASD list, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) said in the statement.

“The verification process is in progress in the case of 400 discrepancies found in the other 15 districts. Thus, Gujarat is witnessing a remarkable performance in the counting phase of the SIR campaign implemented with the aim of improving the accuracy and inclusiveness of this voter list,” the statement added.

On December 11, according to data shared by the Chief Electoral Officer’s (CEO) office, all 33 districts of the state had completed 100 per cent of the enumeration work. Thus, 100 per cent of the verification work has been completed in 182 Assembly constituencies of the state.

However, with the additional time in hand, the officials said it will help them trace and map voters with the old list so that they are not required to submit documents.

“This will allow us for a more comprehensive re-checking. We have already started uploading the list of dead, absent, duplicate and missing voters on the website and sharing the list with the political parties and their Booth Level Agents (BLAs). Now we will start sharing the list name wise also. All the stakeholders working in the system are satisfied with the process,” a senior government official had told The Indian Express.

Since the announcement of SIR, the work of distributing the counting forms to 5.08 crore voters to its digitisation has been done on mission mode. During this, meetings were organised between the booth level officers and booth level agents of political parties to verify the forms of citizens that were not returned due to various reasons including death, permanent migration, absence, to name a few. The process was 100 per cent successful. At the end of such meetings in all districts, the list of voters whose forms were not returned in each Assembly constituency was published on the website of the District Election and Chief Electoral Officer (CEO).
