Rs1,200-crore grant for tourism infrastructure

The Planning Commission of India has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs. 1,200 crore as a special grant for tourism infrastructure development in Gujarat,with a focus on coastal tourism.

The Planning Commission of India has sanctioned a financial assistance of Rs. 1,200 crore as a special grant for tourism infrastructure development in Gujarat,with a focus on coastal tourism.

The sanction for the grant was given during a high-level meeting held on Friday in Delhi between Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Chief Minister Narendra Modi. The Center will allocate the money over a period of five years. An amount of Rs. 306 crore will be released this year,along with an immediate one-time grant of Rs. 70 crore.
