Re-accreditation process at MSU after nine years

The Maharaja Sayajirao University will undertake the University Grants Commission’s re -accreditation procedure after a gap of nine years — after missing out the previous one in 2006.

The Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) will undertake the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) re -accreditation procedure after a gap of nine years — after missing out the previous one in 2006.

A team of 11 members from the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will review the university all through the week starting Monday as part of the re-assessment procedure.

Over 100 departments from the 13 faculties of the university will undergo the re-assessment process. The Chairman of the NAAC Peer Team,S K Saidapur — the Vice-Chancellor of the Dharwad-based Karnatak University — will lead the delegation comprising members from institutes in Hyderabad,Jaipur,Himachal Pradesh and Delhi.

MSU Vice-Chancellor Prof Ramesh Goyal said the team will be here till February 26,interacting with the faculty members,students,alumni and parents. They will visit the university libraries,NCC units,and the Halls of Residences for a comprehensive report pointing out the strengths and weaknesses of the university.

On Monday,the day one of the review process,the team will visit the Science,Arts and Technology and Engineering faculties.

The university is focusing mainly on research works,achievements from the faculties like Science and Technology,course diversity,students support programmes,and diversity of courses,in this year’s assessment procedure.

The NAAC review was last done in 2001.
