‘Rape’ victim does U-turn

An 18-year-old girl who had lodged an FIR at Sanand police station on April 19 claiming she was kidnapped,raped and poisoned by a neighbour has sought to withdraw her complaint,Ahmedabad SP Gagandeep Gambhir said on Monday.

An 18-year-old girl who had lodged an FIR at Sanand police station on April 19 claiming she was kidnapped,raped and poisoned by a neighbour has sought to withdraw her complaint,Ahmedabad SP Gagandeep Gambhir said on Monday.

In an affidavit submitted at the same police station,she has stated that she lodged the complaint under the influence of the “poison” she had consumed at her maternal uncle’s place. In the FIR,the girl had alleged that after being kidnapped and raped,she was poisoned by the man.

In her affidavit now, the girl has also stated that her community leaders advised her to withdraw the FIR, Sanand police said.

Meanwhile,the accused,Chandresh Vaghela,is still lodged at Sabarmati Central Jail after being on police remand for five days.
