Rajkot felicitates former officials

As part of the Swarnim Gujarat celebration,the Rajkot Municipal Corporation (RMC),on Sunday,felicitated its former mayors and deputy mayors at the West Zone office on the 150 ft Ring Road.

Rajkot attained the status of a municipal corporation in 1973.

Fourteen mayors including incumbent Sandhya Vyas of the BJP were felicitated. Former deputy mayors and chairman of the RMC Standing Committee were also honoured at the event.

State Finance Minister Vajubhai Vala,a two-time Rajkot mayor,said mayors,irrespective of their party affiliation,have always worked for the progress of Rajkot.

RMC Commissioner Dinesh Brahmabhhatt described the citys progress from 1973 to 2010 and produced RMCs future plan on issues like shortage of drinking water,increase in road traffic and availability of the facilities to the residents.
