The first meeting of the reconstituted Divisional Railway Users Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of the Bhavnagar division,on Thursday,nominated Kiran Gandhi as its representative on the Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC).

At the Bhavnagar meeting,133rd in the series,member Mehul Vadodaria suggested the name of Kiran,which other members approved,said a press release issued by Divisional Railway Manager Deepak Chhabra,who chaired the meeting.

Chhabra urged the members to ensure that the Bhavnagar port was developed for the sake of increasing freight earnings,which were not much due to the almost nil transportation activity at present.

Chhabra said incidents like protests at Junagadh by the general public were not good for the maintenance of facilities and services.

The DRM told the DRUCC members that gauge conversion work on the Jetalsar-Vansjaliya section had been started and the section would soon be made available for movement of passenger trains. Chhabra informed members of the progress on renovation of Gondal and Keshod railway stations.
