50 doctors have agreed to follow a common protocol for treatment of all diseases
The Gujarat Family Physicians Forum has launched the concept of The Family Clinic in the city, with 50 doctors coming out to volunteer in an effort to provide a commonly approachable standard medical facility to patients. Ahmedabad is the second city after Surat to have this facility.
The idea behind the Forum is to guide the common man to the right doctor with right qualifications and to make him aware of the choice of treatment.
These clinics will run medical check-up programmes and participate in data collection for various diseases at local level.
The clinics, having uniform sign boards and common identity, will follow a common protocol for the treatment of all disease and gather clinical research data to modify the course of the disease by using this scientific information.
Dr Pragnesh Vachhrajani of the Forum and Dr Sapan Pandya of the Ahmedabad Family Physicians Association said that there are nearly 1,500 family physicians in the city and that the present endeavour will prove a boon to patients and doctors alike.
The Family Clinic will establish new standards in basic health services. The Forum has 2,500 family physicians as its members, which will ensure more such clinics in other cities as well, they said.
