Pay hike: Railway staffers to protest

Ahmedabad:Branches of Western Railway Mazdoor Sangh will go for protest in the four divisions between June 18-22 demanding pay hike which is due for years. They will stage a sit-in demonstration outside Ahmedabad DRM office on June 20 afternoon. This is a part of the all India protest in response to a call given by parent union National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR).

According to NFIR president M Raghavaiah,the special pay package worked out for 2.60 lakh gang-men two and half years ago was yet to be implemented.

IAC for change in Panchayat Act

Ahmedabad:Members of India Against Corruption,a citizen’s movement to demand strong anti-corruption laws,pressed for changes in Gujarat Panchayat Act and Lok Ayukta Act during a conference here on Sunday. State president of the committee Aniruddhsinh Jadeja said the Panchayat Act should be amended if the Panchayat Raj institutions to be strengthened. Two committees have been formed to suggest changes in the Acts,he added.
