Citizens for Accountable Governance (CAG),an NGO comprising a group of young technocrats,will help organise the Run for Unity event that will be held on December 15. The event is part of Chief Minister Narendra Modis bid to claim the legacy of countrys first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. CAG announced this during the launch of its Ahmedabad chapter at Ahmedabad Management Association on Sunday. The NGO has revealed its political leaning for the first time.
CAGs membership drive saw about 50 youngsters join the NGO. CAG had organised its first event in Gandhinagar on June 29 wherein they had invited the Chief Minister along with former President A P J Abdul Kalam and businessmen as keynote speakers.
The way Sardar Patel integrated the country politically,Run for Unity will integrate the country with thoughts, Gupta said. He is among the core team of CAG who graduated from the Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad,in 2011,after his Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology,Delhi,in 2009.
When asked that an NGO chipping in for an event that has political undertones,Gupta said,We are working for the event as social mobiliser so that every individual can participate. We have nothing to do with the political agenda,but the thought behind it. We will not let the political parties colour our views. Sardar Patel is the most important thing for us who has done a lot for the country.
CAG launched its Ahmedabad Chapter along with Bhopal,Visakhapatnam and Ranchi.
