Newborn dies as ambulance turns turtle after hitting cow

A newborn and his sister died when their ambulance collided with a cow and turned turtle near Bohra Society on the Jamnagar Road in Rajkot in the early hours on Tuesday.

A newborn and his sister died when their ambulance collided with a cow and turned turtle near Bohra Society on the Jamnagar Road in Rajkot in the early hours on Tuesday.

The accident occurred at 5.45 am while Raju Mansingh (32),a migrant labourer,was taking his newborn son to Rajkot after doctors at the Paddhari Civil Hospital referred the case to the K T Children Hospital as the boy was not taking any feed. Rama Mansingh (28) had delivered the baby boy early on Tuesday.

The other passengers in the ambulance were Raju’s two-year-old daughter Somi,sister-in-law Geeta,two nurses,the driver,and a peon.

According to the police,the infant died within two hours of his death.

The said except for the driver,Karshan Dangar,and hospital peon Suresh Jeram,all the other passengers received injuries and were shifted to Rajkot Civil Hospital. The new-born and Somi was declared brought dead. Raju,Geeta and the two nurses,Bhavna Gadhvi (44) and Kusum Kadvatar (41),have been admitted to the Rajkot Civil Hospital.

The two nurses had joined the family in the ambulance as they wanted to attend a camp in Rajkot.
