In January this year, the Commission had appointed a two-member committee to probe into the destruction of certain intelligence records related to 2002 riots along with status of some other documents which were claimed to be either not maintained or untraceable. The Committee was formed by the Commission while acting on an application by Bhatt who demanded an independent probe into the alleged destruction of documents sought by him. The Commission had conducted hearing of the application in April and reserved its order on it without giving any particular date.
