Modhwadia detained,released after Garib Kalyan function ends

Gujarat Congress spokesperson and Porbandar MLA Arjun Modhwadia was picked up by the police from his residence on Saturday. He,along with some other Congress workers,was taken to the Kamlabaug police station and released only after the Garib Kalyan Mela function was over.

The Gujarat government had organised Garib Mela today in Porbandar,where Chief Minister Narendra Modi BJP president Nitin Gadkari were to announce some benefits for the poor.

As per the protocol,Modhwadia was also invited to the function. I was going to attend the function today and about to leave my house when the police told me not to attend it. When I didnt listen to them,they detained me. Around 50 workers were also detained along with me.

He further said,They took us to the Kamlabaug police station and kept us there till the function got over.

Modi could not have spoken lies before me and so he decided to get me detained. I would have exposed,opposed and answered them and so,they prevented me from attending the function, said Modhwadia.

He further said,It was not a party function and yet the BJP president was present at the podium while a local MLA was kept away.

Modhwadia said 80 per cent of the benefits announced by Modi are given under the Central government schemes.
