Metro link connecting Gujarat’s Modi stadium, Mahatma Mandir, GIFT city to be open by May-June: GMRC

The trial run was conducted between GNLU and GIFT City on Sunday

The Metro rail link between Narendra Modi Stadium, Mahatma Mandir and GIFT City is being planned to be launched in May-June this year after getting mandatory permission, Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) Limited stated Sunday.

On Sunday, GMRC held a trial run of the metro between Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) and Gujarat International Finance-Tec City (GIFT City) as part of phase-2 of the metro project.

An official statement from GMRC said the trial runs of the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar metro phase-2 are on since last week of February between GNLU and Sector 1. Today, it added, the trial run was conducted between GNLU and GIFT City.

The link covers a distance of 28 kms and will have 22 stations. Plans are underway to hold trial runs between the stations in a phased manner following which the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will be requested to assess safety.
