Mehsana rape: Cops arrest 2 teachers

The woman had made a suicide bid on Sunday by consuming poison at the Kalol bus depot after she was allegedly gangraped by the men.

At present,she is admitted in Sharda Hospital albeit in an unconscious state. The police registered a case late on Monday on the basis of her suicide note and her father’s,Madhavlal Patel’s,testimony.

According to the complaint filed by Patel,the woman did not return home after she left college on Saturday.

But on Sunday,she was found in an unconscious state at Kalol bus depot. Madhavlal has also mentioned in his complaint that his daughter left behind a suicide note beside the TV at home.

The Kadi police said that the suicide note mentioned that three of her colleagues had been raping her for the last eight months.

The three have been identified as Dinesh Patel (44) of Bopal,Ketan Thakkar (35) of Sarvamangal Society,and Mukesh Gangaram Patel of Kadi.

Both Dinesh and Ketan have been arrested while Mukesh is absconding,the police said.

The accused have been charged under Section 376 (2)-(G) of the Indian Penal Code.

Inspector G B Barot,who is investigating the case,said: “We can comment on this case only after she regains consciousness. According to the suicide note,her colleagues had blackmailed,tormented and raped her not less than 15 times.”

He added,“We have sent samples to the Mehsana Civil Hospital for tests.”
