A man in Porbandar allegedly stabbed his mother to death on Tuesday after she refused to give him money to buy liquor. The police have detained the man and started the procedure to arrest him under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder.
The Porbandar police said Zinjiben Khunti (55),a resident of Udhyognagar,was brought to Porbandar Civil Hospital with severe stab injuries on Tuesday morning by neighbours. With over six wounds,she died soon after admission.
Preliminary police investigation revealed that Khunti was stabbed by her youngest son Jayesh (25) after she refused to give him money to buy liquor.
Jayesh was detained immediately after the incident. He will be arrested soon, said the Porbandar police. Investigation revealed that Jayesh had been jobless for quite some time and the situation had taken its toll on his mental health. The police added that without work,he had turned alcoholic and pressurised his mother to pay for it.
Khunti was stabbed in the lobby of her house,and reportedly ran for her life before falling outside a closed grocery shop.
The postmortem report is awaited,said the police. No other family member was present at home at the time of the incident. The victims husband,Nagjibhai,had gone to Junagadh,while her other two sons had left for work.
