Gujarat Police has stepped up security across the state following an IB alert that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists have entered India. The Ahmedabad police have been asked to conduct door-to-door checks across the city as part of its security drive. Director General of Police Chitranjan Singh said: We have issued an alert and asked the police chiefs in all commissionerates and ranges to stay alert. We have ordered checking of vehicles across Gujarat with immediate effect. Checks will be carried out in all hotels,guest houses and public places. In Ahmedabad,the police will go on a door-to-door check in all the areas,including the residential colonies.
The Crime Branch,Special Branch and SOG personnel have been put on round-the-clock patrol duty. Ahmedabad Commissioner of Police Amitabh Pathak said: We have not received any specific input,but the police is on alert. There is no reason for any panic in the city.
