Kuber owner’s kin booked for suicide bid

Ajmal Kasab and nine other terrorists had hijacked Kuber,a fishing trawler,to reach Mumbai to stage the 26/11 attacks. All the five crew members aboard Kuber were killed by the terrorists.

“Last year,two anonymous letters linking the growing fortune of Narshi with his alleged links with Pakistan-based terrorists were received by the police,but nothing objectionable was found against the Masanis,” Porbandar SP Deepan Bhadran said,adding Narshi has been booked for his suicide bid last year.

Deputy SP Harubha Parmar said that according to the complaint registered with Kirtimandir police station,Masani had attempted suicide alleging harassment by the local police. An inquiry into his allegations against the then DySP Makrand Chauhan was ordered by Junagadh range IG,but the report was still to come to the Porbandar police,Parmar said.

On April 13 last year,40-year-old Narshi had consumed poison,alleging he was tired of mental and physical harassment by Chauhan on the pretext of probing his Pakistani links and his growing fortune.

The Masanis had alleged that Narshi was frequently called at Kamlabaug police station and tortured.

Various central and state agencies investigating the 26/11 case have given the Masanis a clean chit and their trawler Kuber was returned to them.
