The Jamiat-Ulema-i-Hind (JUH) is holding a day-long session on April 17 to discuss issues pertaining to the implementation of Sachar Report and Rangnath Mishra Commission Report.
The Sachar Report had brought out the educational and economic conditions of the Muslim community, while the Rangnath Mishra Commission had recommended 10 per cent reservation in government jobs for them.
JUH general secretary Maulana Hakimuddin Qasmi told The Indian Express that his organisation will demand the implementation of the two reports with a view to uplift the conditions of the Muslims and make them part of the mainstream.
Another important issue facing the community is the large number of youths in custody in connection with the Hyderabad,Malegaon and Ajmer blasts,he said.
The real culprits involved in these activities had accepted their guilt, but the youths charged in these cases were still languishing in jail,he said. The organisation will demand for their urgent release and compensation,he added.
He said JUH will discuss the issue of four lakh wakf properties in India under illegal occupation, mostly under the state government.
JUH will also urge the Centre to set up an independent private-operated Haj institution on the Malaysian pattern so that the problems regarding the pilgrimage are solved on a permanent basis,he said, adding that his organisation is against any subsidy to Haj pilgrims.
Justice (retd) Rajinder Sachar; film producer Mahesh Bhatt; Swami Agnivesh; Aziz Burney, editor (Sahara Urdu daily); and others will attend the session.
