After a delay of more than five years,hospitality chain ITC Hotels is finally expected to come up with a 300-room property in Ahmedabad by 2016. The hotel,ITC Narmada,will be the companys first fully owned and operated hotel chain in Gujarat and among the 10 hotels under the ITC Luxury Collection Hotel brand in India. With a project cost of Rs 500 crore,the new hotel is to come up in Satellite area of Ahmedabad and will cater to the business segment of travellers. The work on the property is set to begin around Diwali this year. We are hoping to finish the infrastructure work in three years and start operations. We will also be looking at acquire a LEED Platinum certification. Through this certification,we will be ensuring responsible luxury practices and be part of the hotel that is responsible for managing our own water and waste recycling. In fact,we have used the services of a city-based architect Hiren Patel to design the hotel, said Girish Bhatt,an ITC official. Currently,the brand manages Fortune Landmark Hotel in Ahmedabad and owns WelcomHotel in Vadodara,which was the first ever five star hotel to have opened in Gujarat in 1987.
