The Indian Design Council (IDC) plans to come out with a design certification mark called I-Mark as a separate recognition mark for the industry.
The concept of I-Mark is on the lines of G-Mark design recognition used in Japan or Red Dot in Germany, said Pradyumna Vyas,member secretary of IDC and Director,National Institute of Design (NID).
The companies with I-Mark accreditation will have a distinctive recognition in the industry,he added.
IDC conducted its second meeting in Mumbai on Monday to work out the parameters for the recognition of design and the scope of introducing it.
The panel will consider aspects like environment friendliness,energy consumption,carbon footprint,user convenience and good design practices as criteria.
