About 5,000 elected BJP members from Gujarat, who were sent for the mandatory election campaign tour to the poll-bound states of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, got no reason to complain as they were well looked after by the local party units, who took care of everything from food and stay to even beverages. The four-day sojourn was more than satisfying as was evident from their reaction. When asked to elaborate on the facilities available to them during their campaign tour,a campaigner, very sheepishly, admitted that everything was in plenty, particularly the beverages. One should not be surprised at their barely concealed glee, since these two states are dry like Gujarat.

Tarun Tejpal, the Founder-Editor of Tehelka,is a topic of discussion in all circles, particularly among journalists. But this has brought to the fore the matter of credibility not only in journalism, but also among journalists. This is what came out of a recent Media Conclave held a B-school in Ahmedabad,an event attended by Editor-in-Chief of IBN 18 Network Rajdeep Sardesai and former Founding Editor of India Today,Madhu Trehan, among others. In the light of the controversy,Sardesai said,There is no place to hide for anyone. Journalism is all about accountability for all, including us (journalists). Journalists should get their conscience and credibility back. Editors should declare their assets and put it out in the public domain…It was a cathartic experience…there is guilt that we have felt as journalists… we want to hold the whole world accountable, except ourselves… Let it all come out and it is the best way. However, the way in which it is coming out is awful and this is paparazzi.
