With just four days left for filing nominations for the polls to six municipal corporations due on October 10,state Congress leaders are busy scrutinising the list of claimants for party tickets.

Their first meeting continued till 4 am on Tuesday and central party leader Sudhakar Reddy was also present.

With a large number of leaders clamouring for tickets for their kin,the party finally decided to defer discussions on Ahmedabad and take it up only after clearing the list for the other five cities.

Party leaders said the next meeting began at 4 pm on Tuesday at the state party headquarters with only senior leaders including state president Siddharth Patel, leader of opposition in the state Assembly Shaktisinh Gohil,Bharatsinh Solanki,Narhari Amin and others besides Reddy, participating in it.

Till 7.30 pm,the leaders were reported to be discussing the list of ticket-seekers from Vadodara, from where several senior leaders had demanded tickets for their sons and daughters.

With senior leaders huddled in the meeting, other leaders and ticket-seekers who thronged the party headquarters had to content themselves with meeting party spokespersons Jayantilal Parmar,Girish Parmar and former minister Hansmukh Patel.

Sources said the final list candidates for Vadodara,Surat,Rajkot,Bhavnagar and Jamnagar would be cleared today even if the meeting had to be extended till late night. For Ahmedabad,a separate meeting would be held, they said, adding in several Muslim-dominated wards,non-Muslims were asking for tickets, which posed a problem for the party.
