BJP legislator from Asarwa,Pradipsinh Bhagvatsinh Jadeja,has been made the Chief Whip in the state Assembly. Jadeja was assigned the new job on Wednesday. The post of party had fallen vacant after incumbent R C Faldu was elected as the state party president on Monday. Jadeja has been the chairman of the Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilisers Company in his previous stint as MLA. Meanwhile,Faldu started the basic exercise of formation of the new executive committee,which is expected to take shape in a fortnight and latest before the end of this month,in view of the national executive committee meet at Indore on March 3.

ICFAI sponsors 52 eye surgeries in Bareja village

Fifty-two eye surgeries were carried out at a hospital in Bareja village,off the old Vadodara-Ahmedabad highway,on Tuesday,with sponsorship by the ICFAI Business School (IBS) Ahmedabad at the camp organised by the Blind Peoples Association. IBS had used its fund surplus from the sponsorship received to organise its first business fest Insignia 09 in November and collected additional money from the staff and students for the surgery camp. A handful of students had also gone to Bareja and helped BPA with registration for the camp. A total of 72 surgeries were carried out at the camp.
