Palanpur: Two employees of a local courier firm (angadiya) at Panchratan complex here sustained bullet injuries when some unidentified men opened fire and fled away on bike,the police said.
“Mukesh Rewa Nai and Naresh Gopal Patel,both working with Ramesh Ambalal Patel Angdiya Pedhi (a local courier firm),sustained bullet injuries when two unidentified men posing as customers fired three rounds at them,” they said.
“Both of them were rushed to a local civil hospital. Naresh,who sustained serious bullet injuries,was later taken to Lions Hospital in Mehsana district,” police said.
According to police,the two unidentified men visited the local courier office in morning enquiring about some delivery of cash. “When the local courier firm employees asked them to come later in the noon to collect it they opened fire,” they said.
“A manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits and investigations are on,” they said.

Man held for attack on I-T sleuths
Ahmedabad: The Rajkot police have arrested one R P Jadeja on charges of assaulting Income Tax sleuths. The police said Jadeja had assaulted a member of the I-T Department’s search party and snatched away an officer’s briefcase on June 24. The officials later filed an FIR with the Malviya Gandhigram police station in Rajkot,after which Jadeja absconded. He had applied for anticipatory bail in the Sessions Court,which was rejected. On Thursday,Jadeja was arrested and produced before the court,which sent him to two days’ police remand.

Body found in lake
AHMEDABAD: A body was found floating in the Vastrapur Lake on Thursday evening,which was noticed by a few people who called the fire brigade and the police.
The police said the body was later identified as that of Nilesh Chaudhari (33),who used to work with a cable operator.
The police said the man had told his colleague that he wanted to swim in the lake as it was raining.
The body was sent to V S Hospital for postmortem. The police have lodged a case of accidental death and further investigations are on.
