Woman duped of gold bangles
Two persons,posing as policemen,duped a woman of her gold bangles worth Rs 30,000 in the Ghatlodia area of Ahmedabad on Sunday. According to the police,Sharda Shah,a resident K K Nagar,was passing by Samarpan Towers where two men came to her and claimed they were policemen. They told her that some robbers were seen roaming in the area and gave her a piece of paper to wrap her gold bangles and keep them inside. When she was wrapping them,they snatched the bangles and ran away. The police have lodged a complaint of theft and further investigations are on.
Bhuj,Junagadh receive scattered rains
The cities of Bhuj and Junagadh received scattered rainfall on Sunday even as the rest of the state continues to reel under the heat wave. According to the Meteorological Department,Idar in north Gujarat recorded the highest temperature at 44 degrees Celsius,followed by Ahmedabad at 43.6 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature in Baroda was recorded at 42.6 degrees Celsius and 42.5 degrees Celsius in Rajkot. Surat remained relatively cooler at 36 degrees Celsius.
Fake currency racket busted in Bhavnagar,4 held
Rajkot: The Bhavnagar police on Sunday arrested four persons with fake Indian currency notes to the face value of Rs 45,000. The fake notes are believed to have been supplied from Bangladesh. On a tip-off,the Special Operations Group (SOG) detained Aamir Sheikh,Majbul Sheikh,Mohammad Sheikh and Firoz Sheikh from Vora Bazaar in the main market of Bhavnagar and recovered counterfeit note bundles. A Bhavnagar policeman said: They dont seem to be locally made,and may have been supplied from Bangladesh. We are doing further investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the four accused belong to Jharkhand and have circulated fake currency in various parts of Saurashtra,like Gondal,Jamnagar,Rajkot,Dwarka and Bhavnagar.
