IIMs declare results of CAT 2009

The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 for eight Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) were declared on Sunday.

The results of the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 for eight Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) were declared on Sunday. Officials from IIM-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) said the CAT score was available on the website http://www.catiim.in.

“Candidates short-listed for interviews by each IIM will be announced on the CAT website as and

when the list is ready,”

they said, adding that candidates should contact the respective IIMs if they have any queries regarding the short-listing.

Besides the eight IIMs,over 120 B-Schools use the CAT scores for admitting students.

The computer-based test system for CAT 2009 — held for the first time last year — was marred by technical glitches from the very

first day. Around 2.16 lakh candidates could satisfactorily appear in the test during the 11-day testing window. Candidates faced problems in logging in at centres in Gujarat,Delhi,Mumbai,Pune,Chennai,Bangalore,Kolkata and Bhopal.

Over 7,000 students subsequently took the re-test this January.

The IIMs and Prometric — the US firm — jointly conducting the test, attributed the glitches to virus attacks and hardware problems. The IIM had awarded a 40 million dollar contract to Prometric to computerise the CAT exam.
