The Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad (IIM-A) is planning to introduce cohort-based process for its summer placements to ensure a fruitful recruitment experience for both, the students and companies.

The process will start in November.

Under the cohort system, the placement process would be conducted over continuous weekends called cohorts. Each cohort would host firms offering similar roles and opportunities.

The sequence in which the cohorts would be invited to the campus would be as per the batch preference. The cohort-based process is a longer placement process but with significant advantages.

Under the older system, the companies that offered highest salaries come first. Also, the placements processes

under the system usually finish in a week’s time as it is done on consecutive days.

“The cohorts would be scheduled based on the preference of the students,” an IIM-A official said.

The tentative timeline has been chalked out, according to which the first cluster would visit on November 12 and 13 and the next will be held after two days.
