The IIM-A is likely to begin placements for its present batch of about 300 students next week, with the institute adopting a ‘cohort-system’ for this year’s placement process.

“A batch of 300-plus candidates shall be appearing for the campus placements beginning from the second week of February,” said Vivek Jain,student-member of IIM-A’s placement committee.

The cohort system — where companies offering the same job profiles form a cohort — would essentially make the process stretch for about two months with a few days of rest in between the visits.

This will be a change from the earlier system of Day-Zero and placements normally finishing in less than a week.

The cohort of companies would be slotted to visit the campus at different times, with students choosing which should recruit first.
