Clarification

Referring to a report in this newspaper on May 27 headlined Anna skips press meet,Agnivesh,Arvind hold fort ,danseuse and activist Mallika Sarabhai has stated that she did not tell the media that Anna Hazare was at the studio of a TV channel and had therefore skipped the press conference,during his visit to Ahmedabad on May 26.

In a statement,she said she had no knowledge that Hazare was disturbed by the TV channel while resting at the home of Justice Mehta,where he was staying.

The information I had,which I shared with the press,was that he was tired and wanted to be fresh for the public meeting in the evening,and therefore did not attend the press meet, her statement added.

CCHF alert in Mehsana

The health department has sounded an alert in a 5-km area around Undai village in Mehsana where a woman died of CCHF viral infection three days ago. The isolation ward in Mehsana Civil Hospital has been kept ready. Samples of people in contact with the deceased were sent for analysis to NIV,Pune.
