Heavy rains hit train services across state

Rail traffic was thrown out of gear in central and eastern Gujarat as heavy rains lashed the areas leading to flooding of tracks and landslides.

Rail traffic was thrown out of gear in central and eastern Gujarat as heavy rains lashed the areas leading to flooding of tracks and landslides. Three people were reportedly killed in Dahod when their houses were washed away by a flooding river.

Heavy rains affected train services between Ratlam and Vadodara section even as railway authorities tried to make announcement about disruption of traffic and possible delays. Refund was granted to those who were willing to abandon their journey and sufficient quantity of food was made available at all catering stalls. At least seven trains were running late,two were cancelled,and one diverted.

Similarly,railway traffic on Ahmedabad-Delhi route was disrupted following heavy rains in Dahod. Due to incessant rains,incidents of landslides were reported. While Janta Express was stopped at Dahod station,Avadh Express Dehradun Express were halted at at Piplod and Santraod stations. Jammu Tavi Express was stopped at Meghnagar station. The trains could not resume their forward journey till 3.30pm.

Meanwhile,three people were reportedly killed when their houses on the bank of Kabutari river in Limkheda taluka was washed away after a bridge upstream gave away. The victims were identified as Mathur Bamania,his wife Gani and their neighbour Ramila Bamania. Later,Mathur’s dead body was fished out from the river when reports last came in.

Following flooding at an underpass near Mangal Modi village,the Dahod-Limkheda highway remained closed for around eight hours.
