Gujarat recorded Rs 6,499 crore in Goods and Services Tax collection in April, a 29 per cent rise compared to the same period last year.
It is also superior to the growth in Value Added Tax (VAT) collections.
The Rs 6,499-crore GST revenue includes both SGST and IGST. In April 2022, the GST collections stood at Rs 5055 crore, stated the data shared by the SGST department.
The growth in GST revenues in Gujarat is higher than the average national growth rate of 12 per cent for April.
In contrast, the collection of VAT — one of the largest revenue earners for Gujarat— stood at Rs 3,004 crore in April — only five per cent more than the Rs 2,869 crore recorded in April 2022.
