“I COME here every year to charge my batteries,” Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat said following his meeting with Acharya Mahashramanji at Preksha Vishwa Bharati Dhyan Kendra, Gandhinagar on Wednesday. The basis of personal character and national character is morality and the basis of morality is spirituality because without spirituality, morality has no meaning, Bhagwat said, adding, “That is why I go to such places from where we get the charging we need for the work we are doing. Even in the ordinary life of India, inspiration has traditionally come from spiritual teachings.” Referring to the teachings of non-violence of Acharya Mahashramanji, Bhagwat said that if there is such a vision, “Sabme Main Hoon Aur Sab Mujme Hai” (I am in the world and everything is in me), social violence will stop. Speaking about the centenary celebrations of RSS through the programme called Panch Parivartan, which has five types – family education, social harmony, environmental protection, civic duty and self-reliant life (Swadeshi) – Bhawat said, “We complete 100 years of working for the country, that was our duty, so there is no need to celebrate.”
Arvind Kejriwal, national convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), on Tuesday spoke to the families of party workers arrested and booked attempt to murder, rioting and obstruction of public servants, after violence in Hadadad village of Botad on October 12. Kejriwal, over a phone call broadcast via a Facebook Live from the party’s Gujarat leadership, said, “The BJP government is harassing and torturing people. This is wrong. Farmers were fighting for their rights and AAP is standing with them. The brutality with which lathicharge was carried out, teargas shells fired and false cases filed… This is wrong. You don’t worry, AAP is with you and from Delhi, I’m getting constant updates about the situation.”
