Gujarat confidential: Error Averted

The BJP looks set to confuse the electorate with its campaign for the 2014 LS polls. In Gujarat,CM Narendra Modi has championed the agenda of inclusive development and good governance. However,just when his logic seemed to gather ground,his close aide Amit Shah,party in-charge in Uttar Pradesh,has started chanting the Ram temple mantra. The two different tunes have left people confused about the BJP’s real agenda. The “party with a difference” seems to play different tunes in different states: anti-Nitish Kumar in Bihar,good governance in Gujarat and Ram Temple in Uttar Pradesh.

The Uttarakhand tragedy has led to a stream of relief assistance from across the nation. However,in this hour of crisis,some associations seem to be in the race to score brownie points. One such community association in Ahmedabad specially called on CM Narendra Modi to deliver a cheque of Rs 11,000 for the victims. What’s more,the association ensured its act of “kindness” didn’t go unnoticed,publicising its contribution in newspapers through state information department.

Tragedy of errors

Phones at AMC Opposition leader Badruddin Shaikh’s residence kept ringing the whole day last week with curious and worried callers flooding him with inquiries about his well-being. A perplexed Shaikh did not realise what was going on as he was hale and hearty at his home. It had so happened that Badruddin Saiyed,owner and editor of a city-based newspaper,News Point,had died of cancer that morning. People inadvertently omitted the surname,leading to confusion.
