As the Gujarat BJP executive meet came to an end on Sunday,Chief Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on the UPA government while crediting Gujarat for motivating other states to have development-driven elections. This,he said, was the biggest contribution of Gujarat to the nation.
Perhaps nowhere a state party meet has assumed so much importance. But such importance is natural,as not only to Gujarat, but this (meeting) also matters to all those who have hope and confidence in development, Modi said while addressing the media on the last day of the two-day state party meet in Rajkot.
In an apparent reference to the anti-Modi campaign being led by former CM Keshubhai Patel and some other BJP rebels by playing the Patel (caste) card in the run-up to the Assembly elections,he said,Caste politics has destroyed states. Look what has happened in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Mentioning about his Sadbhavana Mission fasts,Modi said,Gujarat cannot be deterred. We have development as formula and peace and brotherhood and confidence. The Team BJP,the Team Gujarat will show it… We won the 2002 and 2007 elections. And circumstances for our win are more favorable in 2012 than ever before.
Continuing his attack on the Centre and Congress leaders, the CM raised issues of scams, policy paralysis and falling growth rate. Aa karnamaona kamthan ma vikas kyanthi thai (How can there be development amid all these scams?).
In reference to the fall in GDP,he said,All know that the 21st century is going to belong to Asia. But whether it will be India or China, that can be decided by us. First eight years of the first decade of this century has gone to the UPA,which has disappointed the world.
He came down heavily on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, saying his government was caught unaware about the huge fall in GDP. Till recently, the UPA leader maintained that growth rate will be around 9 per cent. They had no idea that there was a hole in the ship… The Congress ship is sinking.
On the constant fall in the value of Indian currency against dollar,Modi alleged there was a malafide move behind this. Currencies of Nepal,Bangladesh,Pakistan and Sri Lanka are unaffected. When smaller countries around India are not reporting fall in the value of their currencies,India has a completely different story. This is not the problem of economy, but corruption, he said.
