As a fallout of an old dispute,a married couple was fired at from country-made pistols outside their chawl in Gomtipur by nearly five persons on Wednesday night.
The couple,Mustaq Alam Parmar and his wife Mehjabeen,both residents of Chhotalal ni Chali,sustained bullet injuries and were admitted to the VS Hospital. Their condition is said to be out of danger.
The Gomtipur police have arrested five persons in this regard and investigations are on to nab one more accused,who is at large.
Mustaq,who lodged the police complaint,is a murder convict and was out on parole when the incident occurred.
The arrested have been identified as Zahiruddin alias Babar Abdul Gafar Ansari,Sikandar Khan alias Machhi Pathan,Ashiqueali Ansari,Mohammed Irfan Ansari and Mohammed Yunus Shaikh. The absconding accused has been identified as Akram.
According to the police,the incident took place when Mustaq and his wife were going to their home after parking their car.
Around four to five persons came out suddenly and fired three rounds at the couple from country-made pistols. They soon escaped from the spot, said police inspector A A Gadhvi.
Gadhvi said that the cause of the attack could be a dispute between Mustaq and his cousin Zahiruddin over a land deal in Narol.
We have arrested the five accused and recovered the weapons,which were used in the attack. Further investigations are on to nab Akram,who is also Mustaq’s cousin, Gadhvi said.
