Former Abdul Latif gang member and self-proclaimed actor Mohammad Tempo was arrested in Ahmedabad on Wednesday for chain snatching. Tempo,a history-sheeter,has been arrested earlier for possession of arms and shooting cases in Ahmedabad. The crime branch had a tip-off that Mohamamd Tempo Sheikh (45) was going to cross Narol Circle with firearms and apprehended him from the spot.
He was found with one country-made pistol,one country-made revolver,four cartridges of .8mm and five cartridges of .75 KF. Joint CP (Crime) A K Sharma said,He was arrested with arms and live cartridges. He has a notorious past of assault,trading in firearms,gang wars,loot and murder and cases. We had received an input that he had procured arms and cartridges for looting.
The crime branch officials said he was arrested last for firing at a real estate biggie in Juhapura,Goti Lal,in 2012. A few days before the firing incident,he was arrested for torching the hutments of Bangladeshis in Juhapura,alleging that they were abducting children from Ahmedabad.
According to the crime branch,Tempo was earlier arrested in the Gymkhana Club owner murder case in Anand. He was twice arrested under Prevention of Anti Social Activities Act. The crime branch officials stated that in the latest offence,Tempo brought a truck of GJ 5 series with the help of his aides,Munawar and Imu,and stole 23 tonne iron rods worth Rs 3.50 lakh. The police stated that he was wanted in seven other similar offences for which he would be grilled in police custody. Incidentally,Tempo had made a Gujarati film on his life,Mathabhare(Headstrong),that never got released.
