The Bharatiya Kisan Sangh (BKS) has appealed to the state government to take urgent measures to provide relief to the farmers facing crisis due to failure of monsoon and prevailing drought like conditions.

In a statement issued on Friday, state BKS president Maganbhai Patel demanded the benefits of crop insurance to the farmers whose crops had dried up due to scarcity of rains.

He also demanded immediate irrigation water through canals in areas where there was still a chance of protecting crops.

Patel urged the government to clear all the pending applications for agricultural power connection in ‘dark zones’ and also start entertaining new applications for these areas as a special case.
