For Ashish Nanda, the new director of IIM-A,family comes first. This was evident at the first press conference he held recently. A beaming Nanda introduced his wife,Shubhi,to the media and obliged photographers by happily posing with her. Nanda, who has taken leave of absence from the Harvard Law School faculty, said that when the idea of him being one of the contenders for of IIM-As top job came up at an alumni meet in the US,he had dismissed it as a joke. He added that it was his wife who prodded him to give it a serious thought. Nanda also remembered her mother who passed away on the day he set foot on the campus (August 5). Nanda said his son,who will soon join a medical school, had told him,You and I are embarking on two different adventures together. Nanda said he believed his son.
Tweet Revenge
Bollywood actor and director Kamaal R Khan is not new to controversies. He did that again when he tweeted that he would leave the country if Narendra Modi becomes the prime minister. Popular on Twitter for his controversial remarks and his acerbic movie reviews,Khan acted in the Hindi film Deshdroh. But the less about it,the better. He is best known for his antics at a reality show where he was shown to be abusive towards other participants. Recently,he was booked by the Delhi Police for making derogatory remarks against actor Dhanush in a review of Raanjhanaa on a popular website. Considering Twitter has lots of Modi fans, wonder what tweet revenge will they exact on Khan!
Unhealthy Show
Weeks after an IPS officers wife succumbed to dengue fever in Gujarat,Bharat Shah, the mayor of Vadodara, has been hospitalised with symptoms of typhoid. Shah is hoping to be part of a function in the city on Thursday when the three important ministers of the state Anandiben Patel,Nitin Patel and Saurabh Patel will lay the foundation stone for the Fatehgunj circle overbridge. Shah was hospitalised earlier this week and is currently undergoing treatment. A source close to Shah says,He hopes to be able to attend Janmashtami celebrations and the event with the ministers. Mosquito Bytes
Itll be a sacrilege to compare a labour-dominated area like Bapunagar in Ahmedabad with the Indian Institute of Management. But a senior IIM-A official did just that while explaining the cases of dengue on the campus. This is IIM-A campus not any other area like Bapunagar where mosquito breeding cannot be controlled, said the official, suggesting indirectly that it was quite natural if mosquitoes hit Bapunagar, but they couldnt enter the IIM-A campus. When asked if the mosquitoes were so overawed by the sheer ambience of the premier business school that they would keep off the greenery (and students) there,he beat a hasty retreat.
