Gujarat Health Minister Jaynarayan Vyas on Saturday launched the project Knowledge-based Actions for Diabetes Awareness Movement (KADAM). The initiative is a part of the ongoing conference of the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) in Ahmedabad. The project aims to increase awareness on diabetes and its complications in Gujarat.
While launching the project,Vyas said,Diabetes is a major cause of concern for the people of Gujarat. With due precautions, healthy diet and regular exercise, one can easily control diabetes. In view of this, project KADAM is a move in the right direction and it will definitely help the people in Ahmedabad and Gujarat to fight the deadly disease.
Studies have shown that, with good management, many of the complications of diabetes can be prevented or delayed. A healthy diet and exercise could prevent up to 80 per cent of Type 2 of diabetes. If timely diagnosis and adequate treatment are delayed, complications and morbidity of the disease can rise exponentially.
