The Gujarat Congress is going all out to expand its cyber army to counter BJPs social media campaign during the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. In its first step to strengthen its IT initiative,the partys state unit has asked its members,holding dual party posts,to concentrate on a single task to allow the youth a chance to hold ground in the social media area.
In a major on-going re-shuffle of its IT cell,several top members have been replaced by younger party workers to take information technology to the booth-level. In Vadodara,Pragnesh Tewar,spokesperson for the city unit of the Congress,who was also the General Secretary of the IT cell,has been asked to concentrate on the ground-level duties necessary ahead of the Lok Sabha polls,while Abhi Shah has been appointed the Vice-President of the IT cell from Vadodara.
Tewar said he will follow party orders. The Gujarat IT cell is very strong and the Vadodara IT cell in particular is a benchmark in the national level on how an IT cell should operate. The IT cell would get stronger with more young people, he said. Similarly,Surat city Congress spokesperson Ruchit Patel,state IT General Secretary Ghanshyam Patel have also been asked to concentrate on party affairs outside the IT cell.
However,General Secretary of the Bharuch District Congress Committee Zuber Patel has been elevated as the state IT cell vice-president. Rohan Gupta,Chairman of the Information Technology Cell,GPCC,said,We have re-shuffled the team as per the policy decided by the president.
The party has decided to retain a dedicated IT team to hold rigorous exercises of educating party workers on social media and initiating them into the workings of the IT cells in the 244 talukas and 159 nagar panchayats across Gujarat.
