Complaint filed against “communal” posters

Gujarat University Senate member Nisarg Patel has submitted an application to the university police station officers against the putting up of posters disturbing communal harmony within the university campus. Patel has asked officers of the GU police station to find out the persons who had pasted the posters on the wall near Helmet cross roads and IIM-Ahmedabad.

The posters on the wall near Adani Petrol Pump read: “ Police adhikari Ajmal Kasab ko biriyani khila rahe hain” (Police officers are treating Ajmal Kasab with Biryani) and “ Congress nu Hath,Sohrabuddin nu Saath” ( Being with Congress is being with Sohrabuddin).

Patel said: “ The posters were put up a week ago. I have submitted the application to the police officers individually against unknown persons for disturbing peace between the Hindu and Muslim communities. I have asked the police to find out the persons who are pasting these posters not only in the varsity premises,but all across the city. Such actions are illegal according to IPC 153/A,153/B,295-A.”
