A Class X student of the Municipal School No 10 in the Asarva area of Ahmedabad committed suicide on Tuesday allegedly because of exam-related pressure.
The Shahibaug police said Sanjay Chauhan (18) was due to appear for the forthcoming board exams for class X. Chauhan was depressed as he feared that he wouldnt be able to clear the exams,they said.
Chauhan,a son of a causal labourer and a resident of Raval ni Chali in Asarva,had failed twice in the board exams,the police said. On Tuesday,he tied a rope around his neck and hanged himself from the ceiling of the front room in the house.
Chauhan was rushed to the Civil Hospital where he was declared dead. The police have registered a case of accidental death and begun investigations.
