Shiv Sena has got a Congress rebel in Shyamji Chauhan,who is capable of giving both Congress and the BJP a run for their votes.

Winning this seat is a prestige issue for the BJP ever since it wrested it from the Congress in the September 10 by-election following the death of then Congress MLA Popatbhai Jinjariya.

The Congress is grappling with dissidence following the selection of Nirantben Dhoriya,the incumbent president of Sayla taluka panchayat and sister of Rajkot MP Kunvarji Bavaliya. Halvad MLA Devji Fatepara who would not campaign for the Congress candidate last time is now supporting Dhoriya,causing consternation in the BJP ranks.

A bus in Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh caught fire after running over a motorcycle that had skidded on a wet highway. The bike's driver, B Siva Shankar, died on the spot and the pillion rider reported that the bus dragged the bike for 300 meters before stopping. Police are investigating the incident using CCTV footage.
