CBSE Class X results out,A’bad schools score 100%

WITH girls outshining boys once again,the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced its class X results on Thursday. While most of the schools in Ahmedabad recorded 100 per cent results,over hundred students got a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 10.

Among others,60 students from DPS Bopal scored CGPA 10,34 from Udgam School for Children in Thaltej and two from DPS East recorded 10 on 10. Two years back,CBSE introduced grading system based on Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) of students in Class IX and X.

“Out of 330 students,nearly 20 per cent of students achieved the score of 10 CGPA. Similarly,31 per cent had a CGPA score between 9 to 9.8 and 25 per cent between 8 to 9 CGPA. Overall,74 per cent of the students had a CGPA score of eight and above,” said DPS Bopal principal Sangeeta Kain.

Speaking about stream options taken by students,the principal added,“While Science stream with Mathematics continued to be a popular choice with top scorers nurturing the IIT dream,this year showed an increase in the number of medical aspirants as well. Humanities with Fine Arts and Psychology is another popular choice among students.”

With 100 pass per cent result and a total number of students 155,34 students from Udgam School for Children in Thaltej scored CGPA 10 and 58 students with CGPA 9. Another student with a CGPA of 10,Shriraj Gandhi aspires to join engineering.

Eshika heads for Humanities

Celebrating with her family,Eshika Parnami,a student of DPS Bopal,who have scored CGPA 10,wants to opt for Humanities. “Looking at my grades,everybody is suggesting me to opt for Science subjects,but I want to make my career in communications. Also,this perception that a student with good marks should only go for Science subjects needs to be changed.”

Preksha says hard work pays off

Udgam School for Children’s student Preksha Shah,who scored CGPA 10,said,“It is sheer hard work and discipline that is responsible for this score.” While her father is an accountant in a private firm and her mother is a housewife,she wants to pursue medical and aspires to become a doctor.

Gujarat Board set to announce results next week

n The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary School Board (GSHSSB) will announce class XII general stream results on Monday.

n The class X results are expected to be announced on June 6 or 7. The class XII Science stream result was announced on May 13.
